The project objective was to reduce lead time and improve productivity by 50% through:

·       Streamlining of the production process

·       5S and re-layout of production floor

After a very messy spaghetti diagram, the production layout was transformed, now incorporating 5S principles too.  Examples of impact are: a component taking 32mins to manufacture came down to 13 mins on first attempt, and the packaging process which was 90mins for 2 men came down to 10mins one man. They’ve increased productivity by 100%+. They have a Kanban for materials. Also cost savings in both material and labour. Overall these cost savings were significant..
